An Eight Part Study
Women of God
Introduction
We live in a time of great confusion in our society about men and women. How should we relate to each other? What are our roles and should we even think in these terms? Are men and women essentially the same in every way, apart from biology, or are we totally different or somewhere in between? Is gender fixed or fluid? Our world certainly has lots to say about all of this.
However, as Christians we need to hear what God has to say. As our Creator he designed us as male and female, and he created human relationships— community, marriage and family. So, it’s important that his Word shapes our thinking and expectations about this topic.
As women, what does it mean to live according to God’s good design?
To answer this question, we need to start with creation as that’s where God established his good design for men and women. With that foundation in place, we’ll then look at other areas of life and relationships as they apply to us. We’ll think about marriage, singleness, parenting, serving in the church, getting alongside other women and beauty.
The recurring theme of this series is to encourage each other in these areas. That may happen naturally or intentionally, as sisters in Christ walk alongside one another. As we raise and influence the children in our lives to become godly men and women, and as we invest in the younger women around us, we can all encourage one another to live according to God’s design for women.
Let’s be praying that God will grow each of us as godly women and equip us to use our gifts in serving those he has placed around us.
In Him,
Caroline, with Di, Lauren & Rach
