Can you think of a time when someone did something to help you without being asked that was overwhelmingly wonderful?

1 Thessalonians 5:23-28
23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. 27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Reflect
What has stuck with you from the passage or the sermon on Sunday?
Discuss
How do you understand v.24? Given the faithfulness of the Lord to his promises, what part should we play in bringing them about?
Should we “let go and let God” or is there a better approach for the Christian to life and godliness?
Sermon Extra
How’s your Bible reading going?
How can we encourage each other to listen to God more and more?
To Close
This has been a great series exploring a small letter with a profound message. How can we sum it up? We have been called on to live lives that please God (4:1). This starts with the hearing of the Gospel (1:8-10) and finishes with the work of God (5:23-25). But it carries on by our work at living worthy of God (2:12).
Let us pray for each other that we may do this more and more knowing that God is faithful.
Pray
That you may encourage each other while we wait for Jesus return.
That you might be an encouragement to other Christians in their walk with Jesus.
For our ongoing commitment to read God’s Word and be obedient to him.
